Case Studies

Cobham Village Hall, Surrey

Cobham Village Hall is a community run hall in Surrey that had outgrown its current occupants. RPS were instructed by the trustees of the hall to build a new single story side extension to the existing building comprising 145 sq. m of new floor space to give the hall the vital new space it needed.

Cobham village hall dates back to 1887, since then its use has changed many times. In mid 2012 RPS were approached to tender for a single story 145 sq. m side extension to the hall as the various activities had outgrown the current building. Towards the end of 2012 RPS’s tender was successful, this was an excellent opportunity for RPS to be involved in a project that would benefit the local community

Initial works began on site in December 2012 with the footings and foundations being dug out. RPS were then able to carry out all relevant works to the external fabric of the new extension. Once water tight all interior works were carried out including plumbing, electrics, decorations and flooring. All these works were carried out while the hall was in use, so great care was taken not to disrupt any of the occupants using the existing hall providing the vital new space it needed.

“RPS worked sympathetically with existing hall users, communicating at all times.”

Roger, Trustee, CVH.
